Cupcakes...Why do I do this to myself!

The whole time Chloe & I are making these I'm asking myself WHY!!! Here I am supposed to be dieting - only 8 weeks left till my birthday & I'd like to at least be down 15 pounds (yes-pre-baby & wedding day weight-WOOHOO!) and here I am making cupcakes! It's ok though - I only ate a quarter of one (because SOMEBODY's gotta make sure they aren't poisonous) and I'm cool - no more for me - the boys'll be home from school in 30 minutes & they can go ahead & tear them up!
I think they're pretty cute! Chloe had a lot of fun rolling out fontant (it's like vanilla flavored Play-Doh) and messing with the sprinkles.
It's supposed to be pretty cold the next couple of days so I better go to the library tonight and get something to read for when I'm tempted to bake something!

Princess Cake

I made this cake Saturday - well, not really, I shopped Thursday, baked & frosted it Friday and assembled it Saturday before we had to get it to the party at 5. It was so much fun! My friend Kim gave me a beautiful, elegant castle cake set for Christmas and I can't wait to use it but I didn't get to this time. This time the little girls mother bought the Disney Princess kit from Tom Thumb for $20. She couldn't believe (& at the time I couldn't either) that they wanted to charge her another $90 or so for the actual cake so I did it for her instead for less...I won't say how much, because it was a LOT of work & I probably wouldn't do it again for less than $100 total :) I don't think that's bad though - we got at least 50 slices out of it & hey, it's just so freaking pretty! I also had leftover batter & made 20 or so mini cupcakes with milk chocolate frosting & really cute details like flowers, polka dots & sprinkles. I have pictures of those too, and the birthday girl with the cake, I'm just having trouble getting those pics off the camera at the moment...haha! So let me know what you think & what you would pay for it so I know what to charge non-family for it if I ever get to do it again!

Check it...

So , like, it's really cold outside. The trees are completely iced over - which is kinda scary if you know how huge our trees are, but anyway, it's just gorgeous. So I made a stew for dinner - celery, squash, onions, carrots, chicken & herbed dumplings (uh, yum) and started a fire. Well, it got low and needed more wood so I started looking around for my shoes, didn't see them and decided I'd slip my toes into Luc's new ones that were left by the back door when he got home from school. My friggin foot slipped inside them like I was friggin Cinderella. My friggin 8 YEAR OLD's feet have caught up with mine! I wear a friggin 8 1/2! So, I'm a little teary with realization that these kids won't be kids for long. Not long at all. (sniff, sniff) Frig.

Why Blog Anyway?

Yeah, why blog! I don't know, maybe since I've filled up so many journals I don't know what do do next. Maybe because I LOVE reading other people's blogs so much, even total strangers, that I thought I'd try it myself! I've heard that you can work out thoughts and most problems by writing them down and mulling over them - but I don't think I have too many problems, or thoughts really...harhar, just kidding! No, I just think it might be fun, to try it for a while, to see if anyone gets any enjoyment out of my monologuing (or ranting, raving, whatever you want to call it). But let me jut forewarn you - I have no idea what I'm doing. I wouldn't know how to separate a paragraph if my life depended on it. My spelling is fine (thank you SpellCheck) but otherwise I'm just going to write how I'd talk to you if you were sitting in front of me and I was drunk. (And the Good Lord knows I talk WAY too much when I drunk) Yeah, drunk Sam is fun...

Anywho - hope you enjoy! Take care, Samantha
